From the time Samantha was a toddler she was my gardening helper. In the spring of 2002 Samantha helped me plant our seeds for the summer, including her favorite sunflowers, but nothing had bloomed.

The day Samantha died I walked out to our little garden and out of nowhere there were dozens of gorgeous red and yellow sunflowers blooming from just two stalks.

They were so beautiful I asked Samantha’s second grandmother (my mother’s best friend), Karen Shashinda, to paint one for us. Her beautiful painting captured the vitality of the colors and the magical charm of Samantha’s sunflowers. The logo will forever remind me of the beauty, joy, and loving generosity of my little garden fairy.
