Charitable Giving Options that Make it Easy: Supporting Child Safety and Empowerment

If you haven’t heard of a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), learn about giving options that make it easier for individuals to leverage their charitable giving and maximize tax benefits.

A DAF is a dedicated charitable investment account that you can use specifically to make charitable donations. You qualify for an income tax deduction at the time you contribute to a DAF and then you can easily direct donations (grants) from your DAF to The Joyful Child Foundation.

In a recent episode of Alt Investing Made Easy, Julia Helgeson from The Joyful Child Foundation shared her journey into nonprofit work and the organization’s mission to protect children through child abuse prevention and child safety education programs.

Donations help fund The Joyful Child’s Be Brave – Be Safe Empowerment Program with a comprehensive, age-appropriate, interactive safety curriculum for schools (K through 6th Grade), as well as 3 introductory lessons for early learners (preschool child safety lessons). The Joyful Child Foundation also offers safety comic books for kids that have a QR code linking to video lessons on child safety. These programs teach children personal safety skills and empower them to say no to predators, creating safer communities.

Understanding the legal side of giving is also important. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Joyful Child Foundation allows donations to be tax-deductible, maximizing the impact of your contributions. There are also strategic ways to give, such as in-kind donations, contributions from business entities, and Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from retirement accounts, which can reduce taxable income while supporting safe kids programs.

Volunteering and sharing your expertise is another valuable form of giving. The Joyful Child’s Volunteer Ambassadors learn how and what to teach kids about staying safe and help provide self-defense training for children.

By contributing to The Joyful Child Foundation, you support a mission that combines education, prevention, and empowerment. Charitable giving is not just a donation—it can be an investment in your legacy for child protection and a future where every child is empowered to be brave and be safe.
